[Warning: proud parent moment ahead!] You may remember from 2011 Kinnelon Poetry Contest Results that Emma won first place for her recitation of her original poem, Adventures.
I thought I would share it with you here...
Adventures
by Emma Whittemore
Adventures can be anywhere.
They can be in a dark and eerie lair.
Adventures can be really brave
In a dingy, dank and dark bat cave.
Adventures might be up a tree,
Maybe even on your knee.
You must have some time to spare.
Adventures are...
As sweet as a lion,
As quick as a lime,
As sour as a sloth,
As dainty as an elephant,
As hard as honey,
As shaky as lace,
As slow as steel,
As playful as an earthquake,
As noisy as gold,
As fierce as a cricket,
As cunning as a canary,
As bright as a badger,
These are the adventures I want to have.
[Note the image above where Emma puntuates her "These are the adventures I want to have" comes from the May 11, 2011 issue of Suburban Trends which, unfortunately, is not available digitally. The article is titled "Stepping up and supporting poetry."]

I am so loving Emma's poem! The whimsy of youth and unrestrained imagination...it's quite stunning, actually....like a Chagall!
"Noisy like gold" - unbelievable!
Tell Emma she's got it going on! Fantastic!
Thanks, John!
