Sterling Forest Visitors Center - May 2009 |
We last visited Sterling Forest on May 17, 2009 to visit the Fire Tower. That was a spectacular hike with breath-taking panoramas. [Note to self: I need to share with you my photos from that hike...]
Ken proposes a similar visit to Sterling Forest, with a hike along the new orange trail that goes to Bare Rock, which offers a fantastic view of Greenwood Lake. It is about the same difficulty as the hike to the Fire Tower.
Here are details for this spring hike to Sterling Forest's Bare Rock Trail:
Date: Sunday June 5
Time: 12 noon
Where: Meet at 12 noon sharp in the Smoke Rise Inn parking lot.
Destination: Bare Rock in Sterling Forest
Distance: 4 miles

Features: Climb to Bare rock and enjoy a fantastic bird's eye view of Greenwood Lake
Participation: Adults, children, friends and dogs
If you plan on participating, please let Ken Bitz know via email at kbitz@optonline.net.
Be sure to bring water and a light snack.
